"Intentional Consecration"

What does it mean to consecrate? Maybe it does not take on the traditional connotation that we think of as it is associated with prayer. To consecrate means to set aside time and attention for something. It also means setting something aside for God's usage, or giving full devotion to something. So, what does it look like? Well, it does require spending time in prayer and in the word of God, but it also requires life management. Sometimes we have to create schedules for ourselves. Getting a calendar is a great start. Also, set up notifications and alarms on your phone. Life can be hectic, so another thing that we can do is get rid of any unnecessary busyness that may use of all of our time and energy. We can ask ourselves, "Is this really important right now? Would I miss anything if I let it go? Where is most of my energy going?" These questions have to do with the Process of Elimination. God is calling for intentional consecration because he wants us to be ready for where he is taking us.

Things will move fast, as they already are. Not only is God doing a new thing right now, but he's doing a quick thing also (Isaiah 43:18-19); (Joshua 3:5). I know that sometimes others may tease us and call us "deep," but we cannot afford that kind of shallowness in this hour. God is calling us to come deeper into his presence, and the shallow-minded may not sense it. He knows what he is preparing us for, and we have to yield to his calling. "What's the purpose?," you might ask. Consecration helps us to align with the will of God, experience more of his tangible presence, and it brings peace to the soul and heightens our awareness. His voice (or unction) becomes so much clearer. In his presence, God can deal with our hearts and make us new (Luke 5:37-38; Matthew 9:17; Mark 2:22). Wherever he is taking us requires new mindsets and renewed heart postures. In other words, there is intimate transformation taking place. Consecration gives us power to overcome the enemy and creates personal discipline.

We cannot carry out God's purpose without consecration. Because of life and our own flesh (referring to our desires in this context), we have to be intentional about carving out the time. It's a beautiful thing to experience more of his tangible presence. Let's take a back seat on this journey and enjoy the ride.
